the Eye Network News
I've always loved to watch Televison, especially if it was in English.
Maybe that's because those shows are all so much more interesting
than the insipid shows we get in Quebec. Whatever the case may be,
I guess I could call this TV watching of mine a passion. One of
many.
The Eye Network stems from that passion. At first, there was the
Sue
Thomas F.B.Eye fansite. It started with me joining an already
existing and exciting site and us expanding it until it took a life
of its own. Of course, we're now a few years later and it's a little
bittersweet for me to realize that this once bustling site is now
at a stalemate because of the end of the series and some other reasons
I really shouldn't go into.
The end of STFBE made me realize that something needed to change
if I wanted some action to keep happening on the site forums. That's
when the Eye Online took shape. I moved the forums from the Sue
Thomas fansite to the Eye Online site and widened the focus to not
only be about one show, but instead become a portal for fans of
Televison - people like me who sometimes have to make time in their
schedule for all the shows they like to watch!
While the Eye
Online community forum is not as busy as many other communities
out there, I still consider it one of the best spots to be at. Maybe
I am biased, but there is so much untapped potential that it's hard
NOT to get excited about it. I keep hoping that people will visit
and realize that they can help shape this community into what THEY
want it to be: not just what a select few decided it would be.
Another thing that changed is that the Bullpen - the fanfics portal
for Sue Thomas F.B.Eye got renamed to The
Library of Congress and additional categories were added besides
the obvious STFBE fandom. I considered moving the LoC (the much
shorter name to the fanfics section) to the Eye Online site, but
it soon became evident that I would risk encountering countless
troubles because of the databases manipulations... so I just let
it be!
After all that came the Eye Newsletters. It was a very fun venture
for me...for a while. I admit that I still miss it at times, but
working on those newsletters alone was too time consuming on top
of everything else, so they were discontinued until another time
where people express interest in helping out (if ever that happens).
And now, we're entering the era of the Eye Guides. The first to
see the light of day was the Supernatural Guide, soon followed by
the Smallville Guide. Heroes was recently added to the roster, and
fans will be delighted to learn that a Criminal Minds Guide is currently
in the works.
The future is looking friendly at the Eye Network and I hope you'll
find the same enjoyment with it as I am. There is so much in store
for you guys... You wouldn't believe me if I told you everything.
*wink*
